Cabinet Vision Software Helps Educational Furniture Manufacturer to Top Class Performance
Alphacam-SW, which puts the full 3D Mill machining menu into SolidWorks, has feature recognition. This means that pockets, edges, holes, etc. are automatically recognised. Also, if the designer also does the NC programming on the same computer, any change in the design is immediately reflected in the machining toolpaths. But it is more elegant than that. A designer with just SolidWorks and a production engineer with SolidWorks plus Alphacam-SW on a different computer can share the same file on a network server. If the designer changes a detail, the toolpaths to cut the part can be immediately updated by the production engineer when he re-loads the file into his computer. This guarantees that the parts being made are always as designed. The file structure is clever: when the designer opens the file in SolidWorks, the toolpaths are not seen. He can concentrate on the design, whilst the production engineer looks after the manufacture.
